Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Player the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of the player by name in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, posted a set of images on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals injured. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
